Use addition to solve the linear system of equations. Show all of your work.

x = y + 3
y = -4x - 3

I changed the first equation to y=x-3 by subtracting 3 from each side.

y=x-3
y=-4x-3

So, x-3 = -4x-3, because y =y.

So, I then solved for x, and used this number to solve for y.
