How did the supreme court decision in dred scott v. sandford increase sectionalism?

a. it gave full citizenship to african americans
b. it expanded the geographical size of the nation
c. it kept the number of slave and free states even
d. it would promote popular sovereignty in the West

The options for that question all don't seem right... but if I had to pick one I guess C would be your best bet.  But what that court case did was it made it so slavery was okay virtually everywhere even in free states and it made the Compromised of 1850 and the Missouri Compromise unconstitutional.  So it would anger the Northerners
