What is the difference between a community and a population?

Community: a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

Population: all the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country.

A population specifically refers to the individuals of a *same* species living together in the same place and time. On the other hand, a community is a more general idea: refers to *various/different* species living in the same given place and time.
