Studies on the alarm calls of vervet monkeys come to the general consensus that the alarm calls and responses are a type of learned response. Calls specific to certain predators, that elicit a specific response from the community imply a systematic exchange of information similar to the semantics within human Languages, as opposed to instinctual exclamations of fear.
