Final answer:

In a tropical rainforest, the two layers of plants from higher to lower are the canopy layer and the understory layer.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a tropical rainforest, the two layers of plants from higher to lower are the canopy layer and the understory layer.

The canopy layer is the uppermost layer of branches and leaves, forming a closed dense layer that blocks most of the sunlight from reaching the lower layers.

The understory layer is the layer of short shrubby foliage situated below the canopy layer and above the forest floor.

The "Emergent Layer" is the top most layer consisting mostly  of the tops of tall trees.  The "Canopy Layer" is the next layer down and is a dense layer of branches and leaves, this is the most plant dense layer of a rainforest. Below the canopy is the "Understory Layer" which is made up of the trunks of trees and land animals. Then the "Forest Floor Layer" is the home of ground cover plants and insects.
