Vertex of the equation is (-2.5, -2.25)

y=x^2+5x+4 ----> find x using -b/2a

-5/2=-2.5

Now plug it in the equation to find the y-value

(-2.5)^2+5(-2.5)+4=-2.25

(x^2 +5x+2.5^2) +4+5

(x+2.5)^2+9

vertex -2.5,9
