Frank bought lunch for $5.60 at a diner. He spent $2.00 to ride the bus to the mall and back, and spent $6.50 while he was at the mall. His friend Bill paid him back $5.00 that he had borrowed last week. If Frank arrived at home with $10.50 in his pocket, how much did he have when her left home that morning? ( I have to write a thing of how much like a line of how much he spent and earned. )

x(beginning money) - 5.60(lunch expense) - 2(bus ride) - 6.50(mall) + 5.00(Bill) = 10.50 x - 5.60 - 2 - 6.5 + 5 = 10.50 Combine like terms
-5.60 - 2 - 6.50 + 5.00 = -9.10 x - 9.10 = 10.5 Add 9.10 to both sides
x = $19.60
so he started out with $19.60

I'm not the greatest at math, but what I can think of to do is add up all of what he spent. So add 6.50, 5.60, 2.00, 2.00(that gives you how much he spent)And he earned $5 from his friend.
