'Less' and 'fewer' often cause confusion, 'farther' and 'further' can also create problems for those trying to use strict grammar. Which sentence correctly uses 'further'?

My house is further from the station.
The rain caused further flooding in the region.
i threw the ball further than John.
All the above are correct.

We can eliminate A. because house must be FARTHER not further away thus eliminating D.,

B. is your answer

C is not because say it out loud- further than john, farther than john usually you use FARTHER when comparing 2 objects or people's actions/distance, further is used oppositely
