Linear equations have a constant velocity so they all have the property of kx. Which means that x is to the first power.
Only c. has x to the first power.
a. x is raised to the second power
b. x is raised to the one-half power (square root)
d. x is raised to the negative first power (x^-1=1/x)

linear means the power of the placeholder is 1
first one, power is 2
2nd, power is 1/2
3rd, power is 1
4th, power is -1
