In my opinion, the correct answer is a syllogism. The three steps are usually considered to be individual, universal, and particular. There are two premises (an individual and a universal one), which lead to a particular conclusion. The most notable example is the following one.
All men are mortal (a universal or major premise). Socrates is a man (an individual, or a minor premise). Therefore, Socrates is mortal (a particular conclusion).
