A virus cannot infect a host cell unless it's surface proteins fit receptor molecules on the host cells surfaces. And in order to reproduce it must first infect a host cell.

Answer:

Virus must enter in the host cell before they can reproduce.

Step-by-step explanation:

Virus is a small organisms that can infect a large group of organisms. The genetic material of virus contains either DNA or RNA. The virus is surrounded by the protein coat known as capsid.

Virus particle behave as living organism if it enters infects the host cell. The entry of virus in the host results in the replication of virus and reproduce to form large number of progeny.

Thus, virus needs to enter in the host cells for reproduction.
