According to the passage, Woolf's purpose in writing "A Room of One's Own", is to persuade others that gifted women poets do exist. According to Woolf, there are social and material conditions for writing literature. And women not always have them because there is a need for free time, privacy, and financial independence, which women have historically have been deprived of. Nevertheless, gifted women poets do exist.
