The perimeter of a triangle is 42 cm. Sides #1 and #2 have equal length, while side #3 is two centimeters shorter than twice the length of side #1. How long is each side?

Define A variable (JUST ONE VARIABLE) and write an equation to sole the problem.
Thanks!

Equation: 2x + (2x - 2) = 42 x = length of side 1

2x + (2x - 2) = 42
4x + - 2 = 42
+ 2 +2
4x/4 = 44/4
x = 11
Side 1 = x = 11 cm
Side 2 = x = 11 cm
Side 3 = 2x - 2 = 20 cm
