The blue shiner is an endangered fish in Georgia. It lives in the Coosawattee River. A dam is built on the river to create a reservoir. The water below the dam decreases. What would MOST LIKELY happen to the blue shiner numbers after the dam is built on the river?

A)They would decrease because of new predator fish.

B)The would increase because they will have more space to lay eggs.
C)They would decrease because the dam would change the environment.

the answer is c ,if the water below the dam decreases it would change the environment for the fish because the more water ,the more likely they are to survive.

Ans.

The large dams show various environmental consequences, which affect chemical, physical, and biological properties of the river and nearby environment.

Dam leads to transformation to a artificial slack-water reservoir ecosystem from a free-flowing river ecosystem. Change in chemical composition, climate, and chemical composition of rivers are generally not suitable to the aquatic organisms, such as fishes and leads to decrease in population of those organisms.

Thus, the correct answer is option C) as 'fishes would decrease due to the change in environment.'
