The Sun hits a 30 foot flagpole at a 60° angle and casts an unobstructed 52 foot shadow. If a building is built 32 feet away, what height will the shadow strike the side of the building?

The slope is -30/52 and the height of the shadow can be expressed as:

h=30-30x/52

h=(1560-30x)/52 now when x is 32 we get:

(1560-30*32)/52≈11.54ft (to nearest hundredth of a foot)
