Company 1: $39.95 per day

Company 1 = 39.95x [Equation]

Company 2 = 19.95+0.49x [Equation]

19.95+0.49x = 39.95 [Wanted price]

0.49x=20 [Multiply till you get 39.95 or close]

m≈40.82 [solution]

When the mileage is greater than 40.82 miles, Company 1 will be less than Company 2 always.

C1=39.95,

C2=19.95+0.49m

19.95+0.49m=39.95

0.49m=20

m≈40.82

At any point where the mileage is greater than 40.82 mi, C1 will be less than C2.
