Explain when you would use the elimination method and when you would use the substitution method when solving a system of equations. When it is best to use each?

Elimination is best to use when there is any common factors in both equations so your can cancel them out. I'm subsititytion, its best to use if it gives you a variable. Like y = or x= and so on... and substitute that value into the other equation. I really hope that makes sense...
