Meg lives in Indianapolis and wants to visit her mom in Lima. She has been meaning to go to a chiropractor in Dayton, so she is wondering whether it makes sense to stop there on the way. Dayton is 165 miles east of Indianapolis, Lima is due north of Dayton, Indianapolis is 173 miles away from Lima, and there are straight roads connecting all three cities.

How many more miles would Meg drive if she stopped in Dayton first than if she drove directly to Lima?

Ok, so. Let's say that the three routes connect like a + with out the top small line. Let's say that Dayton is on the left, Indianapolis is from the south, And Lima is on the right. She is driving along Indianpolis wanting to take a turn to the right so she can see her mom but instead takes a 165 mile detour to Dayton. So thats an extra 165 miles there. Than she has to drive back which is another 165 miles. So she is back where she started. Lastly she has to drive to lima which is a final 173 mile. Ill let you do the rest so that i did not just give you the answer.
Hope This Helped!
