Take the words on the page and put them into an equation: 180 = .4x, with the equals sign as "is", "of" means to multiply, and always change the percent into a decimal. So divide both sides by .4 to get that x = 450

It is 40 percent of 450. You find the answer by dividing 180 by 40 then multiply it by 100 and get 450. Hope this helps!
