(2 +- sqrt(2))/2 is the answer. -(-4) = 4 and (-4)^2 -4(2)1 is 8. Sqrt of 8 can be rewritten as 2 times sqrt(2) since 4 and 2 have common multiples, the answer is simplified to (2 +- sqrt(2))/2
