You need to convert one or both of them so that the denominator is equal. The LCM of 6 and 9 is 18, so 4/6=12/18 and 2/9=4/18. 12/18-4/18=8/18.

All the possible answers are 4/9 and 8/18

(4)/(6) = (12)/(18)

(2)/(9) =(4)/(18)

(12)/(18)-(4)/(18) = (12-4)/(18) = (8)/(18)

(8)/(18) = (4)/(9) = (16)/(36)=(24)/(54)
