Answer:

Original Emancipation Proclamation was destroyed in a fire. (a)

Further Explanations:

Emancipation Proclamation was a presidential executive command issued by President Abraham Lincoln on 1st January 1863 that changed the legal status of about 5 million salved Americans in the confederate states. It abolished slavery and set them free. It ensured that as soon as the salves flee from their masters they became independent. The proclamation was applied to the entire former Confederacy and in the remaining states through, 13th Amendment act authorized in December 1865.

The Proclamation followed numerous warnings during the summer 1862 under 2nd Confiscation Act that sanctioned 60 days to implement the slavery in the States. The proclamation also sanctioned eligible person to get enrolled in the waged service of US force.

The original manuscript was handwritten and was also signed by Lincoln at the National Archives. Unfortunately, it got burned in the Chicago fire of 1871. It is still unexplained how it reached the “Chicago Historical Society” and why no one tried to save it.
