an "endangered species" is in danger of becoming extinct and a "threatened species" is at risk of becoming an endangered species.

Endangered Species can be defined as any species that is in the danger of getting extinct of the overall species or a small portion of the total range. They can get brink of extinction now.

Threatened Species: They are likely to disappear in the near future. Any species that has the chances of getting endangered within the coming future of all the members of this species or a small portion of its total range.
