the initial expression is:


x+6+3(x+4)

So in the next ste they add 6 + 3 but firt they should distribute the 3 into the parenthesis, so the mistake is in step 1, so the correct form is:


\begin{gathered} x+6+3x+12 \\ 4x+18 \end{gathered}
