set up two equation using volume= pir^2h. you know the r will be constant 5 and pi is 3.14. so the height of full cylinder would be solved by 471= (3.14) 5^2 *h
Now the height of the water is similar using the same equation but setting it equal to the volume of the water. 314= (3.14)5^2*h. solve both for h and find the difference will be your answer

volume of cylinder with water = 314cm³
πr²h= 314
3.14 ×5×5×h =314
we get h = 2cm

volume of cylinder = 471cm³
πr²h= 314
3.14 ×5×5×H =471
we get H =6cm
Difference =6-2 = 4 cm
