So you have a triangle and a rectangle...the area of the rectangle is xy and the area of a triangle is bh/2...

r=20*38, t=(38-5)(29-20)/2

A=r+t

A=760+148.5=908.5 ft^2

Answer:

The area of the floor is
908.5\ ft^(2)

Explanation:

we know that

The area of the floor is equal to the area of rectangle plus the area of triangle

Step 1

Find the area of the rectangle

The area of rectangle is equal to

A=LW

we have

L=38\ ft

W=20\ ft

substitute

A=38*20=760\ ft^(2)

Step 2

Find the area of triangle

The area of triangle is equal to

A=(1)/(2)bh

we have

b=38-5=33\ ft

h=29-20=9\ ft

substitute

A=(1)/(2)(33)(9)=148.5\ ft^(2)

Step 3

Find the area of the floor

760\ ft^(2)+148.5\ ft^(2)=908.5\ ft^(2)
