The difference between a number and four is multiplied by negative five. The result is twenty. What is the number?

(n-4)*-5=20           Answer is  n= 8

-5(n - 4) = 20

Distribute the -5 through the parenthesis
-5n + 20 = 20

subtract 20 from both sides
-5n = 0

Divide both sides by -5
n = 0

CHECK
-5( 0 - 4) =
-5(-4) = 20
