A carpenter is building a staircase from the first floor to the second floor of a house. The distance between floors is 3.3m. Each step rises 22cm. Not counting either floor itself, how many steps will there be?

In order to calculate the number of steps, we need to know how much 22cm goes into 3.3m.

Formula:
1 meter = 100 centimeters
3 meters = 300 centimeters
.3 meters = 30 centimeters
3.3 meters = 330 centimeters

(330)/(22) =
(165)/(11)

And now we know, 165 divided by 11 is equal to 15.

So there you go. 15 steps.
