Hello : let A(1,-5) B(-3,7)
the slope is : (YB - YA)/(XB -XA)
(7+5)/(-3-1) = -3
an equation is : y=ax+b a is a slope

y = -3x +b

the line through point (1,-5) : -5 = (-3)(1)+b
b =-2
the equation is : y =-3x-2

or : 3x+y= -2
