I believe this is the answer because it was like some type of domino affect. When one country had conflict with another, or invaded another country, alliances were disturbed because alliances were made in order to help provide for eachother. like a you scratch my back, i scratch yours-type thing. So if an outsider is messing with another countries money flow, they get angry and everyone becomes involved.

At least that's what i got from my textbook lol!
