The floor of a shed has an area of 99 square feet. The floor is in the shape of a rectangle whose length is 7 feet less than twice the width. Find the length and the width of the floor of the shed

so hmmm notice the picture below

if the width is "w", twice that is 2*w or 2w, 7 less than that will then be
2w - 7

thus
\bf \textit{area of a rectangle}\\\\ A=lw\qquad \begin{cases} l=length\\ w=width\\ -------\\ A=99\\ l=2w-7 \end{cases}\implies 99=(2w-7)w

solve for "w", to see what the width is

what about the length? well, l = 2w - 7
