The Puritans were the first group of settlers to arrive in what nowadays is Boston, but it was very different back then. It was a small territory, with an area of roughly 800 acres.

Soon the puritans and the population that arrived later to the peninsula started making it bigger, not only in a number of inhabitants but in size. There were several reasons for this to happen.
