This is a reduction because the scale factor is in between 0 and 1.

Explanation:

In geometry scale factor is resizing of figures.The figure can be the same ,enlarged or reduced.The dilation of the figure depends on the scale factor .

If the scale factor is less than 1 then we have a reduced figure .If the scale factor is 1 we have a same figure and if the scale factor is greater than 1 we have an enlarged figure.

It is given Triangle A’B’C’ is a dilation of triangle ABC about point P with a scale factor of 1÷2.

Hence the dilation is a reduction of the triangle ABC about poing P.
