To multiply it we use FOIL method

First we multiply 3 by the terms inside second parenthesis


3*3= 9


3 * -8i= -24

Now we multiply 8i inside second parenthesis


8i * 3= 24i


8i * (-8i) = -64i^2

Combine all the terms


9 - 24i + 24i - 64i^2

The value of i^2 = -1


9 - 24i + 24i - 64(-1)

9 + 64= 73
