Answer: 80 cm ^2

Explanation:

Largest square = 11 by 11

Smallest square = 8 by 8

Side of triangle =

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

you can only use this formula for right angled triangles. it's called the pythagorean theory

in this case you are looking for a^2

a^2 + 8^2 = 11^2

a^2 + 64 = 144

a^2 = 144 - 64

a^2 = 80

in this case. the number isn't going to be friendly.

a = 8.9443

a is just that one side of that triangle though.

but in the end

Area of medium square = 80

because

8.9443 x 8.9443 = 80
