Let's call the cost of one pair of the two pairs of socks that cost the same: x. We can call the cost of one pair of the other 6 pairs that cost the same: y. We can set up an algebraic equation:

2x+6y=104.

We are given that x=16, so we can substitute.

32+6y=104.

Subtracting 32 from both sides gives us

6y=72

y=12.

Each of the other pairs of socks cost $12.
