Answer: d.) fertilizers can kill organisms that live in the plant roots

Step-by-step explanation:

Fertilizers are chemical or biological substances which are used in the agriculture field so as to increase the nutrient content of the soil. These are important for availing inorganic minerals to the plants which some soils lack like potassium, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus. These fertilizers can be useful for the proper growth of the crops but they negatively affect the population of soil fauna like insects and microbes. The chemicals present in the fertilizers can kill the insects present near the plant roots.
