$2.759 to the nearest penny is $2.76. The "9" in the thousandths place rounds up to a "6" in the hundredths place.

$2.759 rounded to the nearest penny would be $2.760, because if you look at the last digit of this number, it is a 9. When the number is a 5 or above, you round up. When the number less than 5, you round down.
