Theodore Roosevelt’s formed the National Progressive party in 1912. He did not like the idea of losing the presidential nomination for the Republican Party. The Republican Party had nominated William Taft. The new Progressive party supported populist reforms to attract new people that helped to maintain the party. But after the1912 election, the Progressive Party, also known as the "Bull Moose Party," lost popularity and finally disappeared in 1920.
