The election of 1800 rolled around. Jefferson and Burr were both running for President and tied. It was up to Hamilton to decide who would be President. Hamilton chose Jefferson, even though they disagreed on almost everything. It was said he chose Jefferson because he wanted to keep Burr, the man who ruined Phillip Schuyler's political career, from winning. Of course, Burr was angry. He challenged Hamilton to a duel and shot Hamilton in the ribs. The year was 1804.
IN A NUTSHELL:
Burr shot Hamilton because he chose Jefferson instead of him for President.
