Define counterclockwise and clockwise

If you look at a traditional clock, you'll see that starting from 12 on its way back to 12 again, it goes rightwards from 12 to 6, then leftwards from 6 to 12. It's opposite during counterclockwise: from 12 to 6 it goes leftwards, then 6 to 12 rightwards.
