Use the quadratic formula to solve 2y2 + 6y – 8 = 0.

y = [-6 +/- sqrt(6^2 -4*2*-8)] / 2*2
= (-6 +/- sqrt 100) / 4
= (-6+10) / 4 , (-6-10) / 4
= (1 , -4)

the answer is C
