The correct answers are the following

  • Oliver North illegally funneled money from sales to Iraq to help the Contras.
  • President Reagan was guilty of not keeping track of what his people were doing.

The Iran-Contra Affair was an scandal that took place during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Public officials were sellings weapons to Iran, after an arms embargo had been established on this country. Moreover, things got even more complicated when Oliver North decided to use the profit from the arms sales to help the contras fight against the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. At that moment, the Boland Amendment was in force, and it explicitly prohibited the US government to fund the contras.

President Reagan admited that some of his operations ocurred, when the investigations started but it could not be proved that he was aware of the whole operation. Anyway, he should have kept track on his subordinates.
