1/3 of 30 minutes = 10 minutes

10 minutes before 8:00 is 7:50

Answer: Chris has to leave at 7:50 to drive to work by 8:00

Answer:

The latest time that chris can leave to drive to work and arrive by 8:00 = 7:50

Explanation:

It takes Chris 30 minutes to walk to work.

Time taken by walking = 30 minutes.

If he drives, it takes him 1/3 of that time

\texttt{Time taken by walking = }(1)/(3)* 30=10minutes

Now he need to reach the work by 8:00, we need to find when he need to leave home.

It will take 10 minutes, so we need to reduce 10 minutes from 8:00,

8:00 - 10 minutes = 7:50

The latest time that chris can leave to drive to work and arrive by 8:00 = 7:50
