If in a survey, 250 people were asked if they smoke and whether or not they exercise regularly (more than twice a week).

a. 2% of the people surveyed exercise regularly

b. 18% of the people surveyed smoke

What is the percentage?

(a) Percentage of people who exercise regularly:

Percentage of people who exercise regularly = (5 / 250) * 100

Percentage of people who exercise regularly = 2%

Therefore 2% of the people surveyed exercise regularly.

(b) Percentage of people who smoke:

Percentage of people who smoke = (45 / 250) * 100

Percentage of people who smoke = 18%

Therefore 18% of the people surveyed smoke.

To find the percentages that they ask us, we must first know 100%, that is, the number of people surveyed:

5+55+45+145=250

250 as the statement says.

what percentage of the people exercise regularly?

People who exercise regularly are 5 + 55 = 60

If 250 is 100%, then 60 must be 24%.

24% of the people exercise regularly.

What percentage of the people smoke?

People who smokes are 5 +45 = 50.

If 250 is 100%, then 50% must be 20%.

20% of the surveyed people smoke.
