The equation is 14y - 4 = 24y + 26
First, you have to add like terms on both sides,
since there aren't like terms on both sides,
you have to select the smallest number with the variable and subtract it with the larger number with the variable. The smaller number is 14y so you would have to do 24y - 14y which equals 10y.
Then, the equation would be -4 = 10y + 26.
Now, you have to subtract the 26 with the -4. This would equal 30.
The equation is now -30 = 10y
To find y divide -30 by 10.
y= -3.
To find 12y, you multiply -3 and 12. That equals -36.
12y = -36.
