Help me make this shorter

The first recommendation that I would make to my community is to adopt the use of selective garbage collection. This recommendation would allow any material that could be recycled not to have contact with materials that could prevent recycling. By recycling this material, the amount of waste would be reduced and this would pollute the environment less, in addition to reducing the creation of dumps. The second recommendation I would make would be to ask people to reduce the amount of plastic waste and prefer to use products with paper packaging. This would also increase the amount of recyclable material and promote less plastic pollution that takes a long time to decompose.
