It is a false statement.

It is only plants on this earth which have the ability to convert solar energy into chemical energy. Plants can trap solar energy with the help of a pigment known as chlorophyll. The energy trapped by chlorophyll is then used by plants to break water molecules as a result of which hydrogen ions, electrons and oxygen molecules are produced. The energy of this electron is then further used to reduce NADPH molecule in the plant. The energy of this NADPH molecule is then used to synthesize bio-molecules known as glucose through a series chemical reactions. In this way, solar energy is converted into chemical energy by plants which ultimately gets stored in glucose.
