Internal conflict is a struggle that occurs within a character's mind. This term refers to an internal struggle a character can go through. They are really important for characterization because they make the characters more sympathetic. On the contrary, external conflict refers to the conflicts between a character and external forces. This one can be between a character and another or between a character and more abstract forces.
