Quadrilateral PQRS is plotted in the coordinate plane with ordered pairs P(-5,5), Q(-3,5),R(-3, 1), and S(-5, 1). It is transformed and the new ordered pairs for P' is (3,-3). Which set oftransformations took place to Quadrilateral PQRS to get the ordered pair for P?

Given the coordinates for PQRS:

P(-5, 5)

Q(-3, 5)

R(-3, 1)

S(-5, 1)

The coordinate P moved from P(-5, 5) to P'(3, -3)

i) Translation of (x + 8, y - 8). There was a movement of 8 units to the right and 8 units downwards.

(-5 + 8, 5 - 8) ==> (3, -3)

ANSWER:

Translation of right 8 units and down 8 units
